Hey there! I'm Maya Christine White, a fine artist and live painter based in Asheville, NC, and South Florida. I hold a BFA in painting from Western Carolina University, where I played on the Division 1 Women's Golf team. I had the incredible opportunity to study art restoration in Florence, Italy, working on 14th-century church ruins and restoring centuries-old paintings by removing varnish. In 2021, I completed a residency at the New York Academy of Art, delving into figurative painting, drawing, and sculpting while immersing myself in NYC's vibrant art scene.
Since then, I've been live painting at weddings and events, leading mural projects in various spaces, showing in galleries, and creating artwork from my studio in Asheville's River Arts District. Located at 344 Depot St. Suite 104, in the back of St. Claire's Gallery, my studio showcases a diverse portfolio ranging from cute pet paintings, landscapes, and portraiture to colorful abstract and explorative interior scapes.
Live painting aligns perfectly with my outgoing personality and passion for capturing moments in time through genre painting. My artistic style emphasizes colors, light, and expressive brushstrokes. When I'm not in the studio or at an event, I can be found enjoying live music, playing golf, or exploring the great outdoors with my dogs.
